When DeepHealth talks about SmartTechnology™, what do you mean?
SmartTechnology™ gives us the capability to bring informatics and imaging systems much closer together. In radiology, the imaging systems are separate from the informatics layer. Think about PACS versus an imaging system – completely separated with discrete workflows. By embedding informatics into hardware solutions, we can create completely new workflows. That’s the power of SmartTechnology™.
Give an example of the potential impacts of SmartTechnology™ in a clinical setting?
A good example is smart mammography. Integrating DeepHealth’s breast AI into the mammography system makes it possible to get a complete AI readout in less than five minutes. This means that if patients have a diagnostic finding, they can be informed right away and more quickly begin their diagnosis and treatment journey. Or if there’s no finding, they don’t have to deal with the stress of waiting for results. Instead, they can go home with peace of mind, knowing that they are cancer-free.
This is huge. It’s a breakthrough in care that represents a huge leap forward in cancer detection. DeepHealth aims to bring that same SmartTechnology™ concept into multiple areas. For example, what if we bring the informatics layer closer in ultrasound? Or in x-ray, where SmartTechnology™ opens the possibility of autonomous x-ray.
What benefits could SmartTechnology™ solutions offer patients?
The key value of SmartTechnology™ for patients is a better care experience. In smart mammography, because we’re integrating the acquisition workflow – the imaging – with the interpretation workflow, patients could get faster readouts and potentially a same-day diagnosis.
Acquisition time is also shortened because the informatics layer is postprocessing the imaging in real time, rather than having to postprocess later. These are all new workflows that we’re introducing through DeepHealth’s SmartTechnology™.
Shorter acquisitions and faster clinical readouts speed up the time to diagnosis, and that adds up to an improvement in care and a better experience for patients.
Does SmartTechnology™ disrupt care teams?
SmartTechnology™ solutions are only ‘disruptive’ in the sense that they enable breakthroughs in care delivery, with new workflows that offer faster results. But because SmartTechnology™ is embedded into the workflow, it’s not disruptive from the perspective of those doing the care delivery.
There are no extra clicks or added complexity for radiologists and care teams. In fact, SmartTechnology™ is designed to streamline and simplify workflows. Care teams would operate much like they do today, but they would have improved experiences.
Thanks to the integration of SmartTechnology™, care teams would be able to deliver faster results within a more efficient operational environment. This creates a better experience for everyone – those delivering care and those receiving it.
How is DeepHealth helping to enable clinical excellence?
If we look at broader clinical breakthroughs, our big breakthrough is our integrated informatics layer, DeepHealth OS. This end-to-end operating system unifies radiology’s entire operations – from patient registration through image acquisition to reporting.
The second piece is our broader population health portfolio, enabling imaging-based screening programs. SmartTechnology™ elevates the role of imaging for high-volume screening, making it faster, easier and scalable. Our solutions enable large-scale screening programs. This helps make breast cancer screening, for example, more available and accessible. And it helps improve the patient experience.
DeepHealth is making imaging a foundation for population health programs, with solutions that support scaling up and delivery of screening programs in new modalities, like lung and prostate. That’s how we’re driving breakthroughs in care through imaging.
